4th of July festivities in Halfway Oregon. The sign says “Home of Baker County Fair” but there were so many trees I couldn’t get a good shot:

Watching the barrel races with FJ and a new friend. When you take a Flat Daddy with you new friends just come out of the woodwork!

Only in small towns do you find the flag planted right in the middle of the only “major” intersection in town

Do you think he’ll help us float if we jump in?

I look at how long it’s been since my last post and it makes me feel so lousy. These 10 hour days have been rough on our schedule, and all our spare time is spent cleaning up and running errands, so it’s easy for me to set this to the side. It’s been a busy month and it’s hard to believe there’s only 2 months left until RJ’s return! We recently had more friends head out so please remember all the soldiers, airmen, sailors, and Marines in your prayers long after RJ comes home.
The most exciting thing to happen the last few weeks was Jeff’s birthday! He turned 7 and we had a fun party at our local kids museum.

Hard to believe that the little boy who started our adventure as parents has survived for 7 whole years!!

I guess this is a chain, but it recently opened near my in laws and I’ve heard good things so we went and picked some up the last time we were there. It was pretty darn yummy, AND they have a military discount!

but is this REALLY the guy you want giving a national security briefing? He’s not much of a communicator…

This dinosaur thought FJ would make a good snack, but it turns out he’s not very filling!

This week has been INSANE!
Training to be a screener at the airport is SO much harder than you’d think and I have been busy busy busy. Between 9 hour days and all the stuff at home poor FJ hasn’t seen too much time out of the car this week. We did have fun in Seattle though.
Here are some pictures from our Memorial Day weekend:

FJ is in this picture, so I’m including it because I really like the falls. There’s a much bigger drop off to the right side that is pretty cool.

Every year there is a new finisher shirt for the race. It’s kind of a big deal, there’s a lot of speculation and analyzing the previous years shirts. They even pile the shirts face down at the finish so people can’t see them until they cross, it’s pretty fun.
Anyway, there is a series of statues of runners downtown and every year they put all the previous shirts on them.

The other funny thing about these shirts is that pretty much everyone who gets one wears it the next day. It’s some sort of Bloomsday tradition. People in this town love their event T-shirts.

And of course everyone is critiquing the shirts the next day and there’s always some lively discussion. Over a shirt! A guy on sports radio said they get a box of 64 crayons and everyone reaches in a bag and grabs one. Then they put it on a board and whoever has the color of/closest to the shirt wins. Everyone puts in 2 dollars and then half the pot goes to a charity and half goes to the winner. It sounds like a fun way to really get involved in Bloomsday!
